COLD WEATHER INSTALLATION
The tool with battery must be warmed up before operating in
temperatures below 5°C by doing some cycles without pipe.
The lowest ambient temperature for Q&E is -15°C.
TIGHTNESS TESTING
The fi tting joint can be pressurized after 30 minutes at temperatures
down to +5°C.
At lower temperature increases the waiting time as follows:
+ 5°C... 0°C: 1,5 h
0°C...- 5°C: 3 h
- 5°C...-10°C: 4 h
-10°C...-15°C: 10 h
At room temperature, the joint will be as strong as the pipe itself
after, within 6 and 24 hours.
Tightness testing in accordance with the relevant standards (ANV
12108) shall be carried out before the system is taken into operation.
TROUBLESHOOTING Q&E CONNECTIONS
If fi ttings will not seal, check for the following:
Is the expander head screwed
on tightly
Tighten the head securely.
Are the expander head segments
bent or misaligned
Replace expander head.
Are the expander head segments
failing to contract between
expansions
Clean and relubricate.
Is the expander cone over or
under lubricated
Clean and relubricate.
Is the fi tting damaged Replace fi tting.
Is the expander cone bent or
damaged
Return to a MILWAUKEE
service facility for repair.
Was the expander head held in
the expanded position before
tubing was removed
Cut 50 mm off tubing and
restart process.
Was the tubing rotated slightly
after each expansion when using
an Uponor Stanard expansion
head
Cut 50 mm off tubing and
restart process.
Are the tubing and Q&E Ring
clean and dry
Wipe dry.
Is grease getting into the tubing
from the expander head
Wipe grease from tubing.
Clean and relubricate
expander head.
If Q&E Ring slides during expansion:
Are the tubing and Q&E Ring
clean and dry
Wipe clean.
Are your hands clean and dry Wipe dry — oils from your
hands can lubricate the tubing
and Q&E Ring.
Are you holding the ring in
place
Place your thumb against the
ring and hold in place during
fi rst couple of expansions.
CLEANING
The ventilation slots of the machine must be kept clear at all times.
Use the supplied grease tube to lubricant the Q&E expander heads.
Daily or at least every 100 connections, clean the cone of the tool
and lubricate the cone. Use a clean, lint-free cloth to apply a thin
coat of lubricant (Molycote G-n plus) to the expander cone. Keep all
other parts of the tool free from lubricant.
Regularly clean the inside of the expander heads using a dry cloth.
Avoid any build-up grease in between the segments. It is essential
to keep the outside of the segments free from grease and dry.
Improper lubrication (too much, or too little) may result in faulty
connections, which could result in property damage.
MAINTENANCE
Use only MILWAUKEE M18™ Q&E expander heads or Uponor
Standard expander heads. The use of incorrectly sized expansion
heads may result in faulty connections, which could result in
property damage.
Use only Milwaukee accessories and Milwaukee spare parts. Should
components need to be replaced which have not been described,
please contact one of our Milwaukee service agents (see our list of
guarantee/service addresses).
If needed, an exploded view of the tool can be ordered. Please
state the machine type printed as well as the six-digit No. on
the label and order the drawing at your local service agents or
directly at: Techtronic Industries GmbH, Max-Eyth-Straße 10,
71364 Winnenden, Germany.

Electric tools and batteries that have reached the
end of their life must be collected separately and
returned to an environmentally compatible recycling
facility.
Check with your local authority or retailer for
recycling advice and collection point.
