SETTING UP YOUR RACKLINK DEVICE FOR THE FIRST TIME
Out of the box, your RackLink device is configured to use DHCP. If you are using a DHCP server,
your RackLink device should work automatically, and you can skip to “Using the Browser-Based
Interface” on page 26. If you are not using a DHCP server, use the following procedures to configure
your RackLink device using a static TCP/IP address.
The following items are required:
• A RackLink device.
• A network crossover cable (Cat5e or better, not provided).
• A standard network cable (Cat5e or better, not provided).
• A pen and paper.
NOTE: The following procedure shows steps using Windows 7. The setup steps are similar in
other operating systems.
Configuring TCP/IP on Your PC
First configure TCP/IP on your PC, and then configure TCP/IP on your RackLink device via either the
browser-based interface or Device Discovery. For more information, see “Configuring TCP/IP in
RackLink via Browser-Based Interface” on page 24.
To configure TCP/IP on your PC:
1. Disconnect the PC from any networks.
2. Click Start.
