Installation considerations
Ducting mode
See page 16 for carbon filter installation procedure.
After installation, the operation of open flued gas appliances should be tested by a competent person to
ensure that back-flow of combustion gases does not occur.
Air must not be discharged into a flue that is used for exhausting fumes from appliances burning gas or
other fuels. This appliance may adversely affect the safe operation of appliances burning gas or other fuels
(including those in other rooms) due to back-flow of combustion gases. These gases can result in carbon
monoxide poisoning.
The very best method of clearing the kitchen of unwanted odours is by connecting the appliance to an exhaust duct and
venting to the outside atmosphere via the ceiling or an exterior wall. Suitable ducting kits may be purchased from your
local Howdens depot or online.
Methods of extraction
NOTE: You do not need carbon filters if you are venting outside using ducting (not supplied).
Extraction via exhaust ducting (venting outside) - no carbon lters required
• Ducting kits supplied separately.
• Never use the hood in areas where devices with exhaust pipes
connected to the outside are already operating unless perfect
ventilation can be guaranteed.
• There must be adequate ventilation in the room when the cooker
hood is used at the same time as an appliance burning gas or
any other fuels.
• Connect the external ducting kit to the outlet of the cooker hood.
Carbon filters are not required if the hood is to be ducted outside.
Extraction via recirculation (vented internally) - carbon lters required)
• For extraction via recirculation, install carbon filters.
• These can be ordered separately from your local Howdens
depot or online. Part No. LAM2010.
Do NOT block the recirculation vents.
Ensure power is switched off to the cooker hood before
installing / changing the carbon filters..
