USING THE APPLIANCE FOR THE FIRST TIME
1. Remove the packaging material, especially from the toasting slots. Do not remove the stickers.
2. When using the product for the rst time, clean it as described in the “Cleaning and
maintenance” paragraph.
3. Insert the crumb tray into its housing.
4. Place the toaster on a at, solid, non-ammable, heat-resistant surface in a well aired room,
away from the edge of the worktop and curtains.
5. Check that the toasting start lever is fully up and connect the appliance to a power socket.
6. Use the dial to select the maximum toasting level (6) and lower the lever fully to start the
toaster, without inserting any food. The heating elements in the middle of the double slot, will
not glow during use. This new, more energy efcient technology uses less power but toasts
food in the same way.
Caution! The lever only remains down when the appliance is connected to the power socket.
Operating it empty for the rst time serves to eliminate any dust that may have settled inside
the appliance. During this procedure, there may be a slight smell and some smoke.
This is normal and harmless, and is due to dust that may have settled in the
appliance. If this persists, contact the dealer.
7. The lever returns up automatically when the time has elapsed. The toaster is now ready for use.
USING THE PRODUCT
1. Place the toaster on a at, solid, non-ammable, heat-resistant surface in a well aired room,
away from the edge of the worktop. Always check that the crumb tray is in its housing.
2. Slice the bread (recommended size 12x12 cm, maximum thickness 2 cm) and remove the crumbs.
3. Check that the toasting start lever is fully up and connect the appliance to a power socket.
4. Insert the slices of bread into the toasting slots.
5. Use the dial to select the desired toasting level, from 1 (light browning) to 6 (dark browning).
When using it for the rst time, we recommend a medium toasting level, position 3 or 4.
6. Lower the lever fully to start the toaster; the light in the button will turn on, and the display
will show the selected toasting level (a), the remaining toasting time (b) and the “toaster”
function (c). The heating elements in the middle of the double slot, will not glow during use.
This new, more energy efcient technology uses less power but toasts food in the same way.
7. When the bread is toasted, the lever returns up automatically, lifting the slices of toast. The
appliance turns off. If the toast is not brown enough, select a higher toasting level and lower
the lever again. If the toast is too dark, select a lower toasting level. If only one side of the
bread is toasted the Bagel function may have been selected in error. Lower the lever to start
the toaster and ensure that the light is not on, the display should show the “toaster” only,
not “bagel”.
8. Disconnect the power cable from the power socket when not in use.
The top of the toaster becomes very hot during operation, and the outer surface may heat up.
DO NOT touch the hot surfaces during operation. Only touch the buttons, dial and lever. The
apparatus is subject to residual heat.
IMPORTANT: Press the button to stop the toasting at any time and turn off the toaster; the
bread will be lifted automatically.
