6) Reassemble the removed parts back to their former
state. Finally, adjust the brake spring pressure by the
tightening amount of the two nuts.
For the standard adjustment, the upper feed roller
rotates by pressing the spring balance as shown in
the fi gure at left against the roller to apply a pressure
of 10N to 30N.
The effi ciency of feed may need to be increased in
accordance with sewing conditions.
In such a case, increase the pressure.
7) When fi lling grease into the upper feed roller, the
grease should be applied to the sliding part of
the roller for increased smoothness of the roller
connector.
If the upper feed roller loses its smoothness, the
rotational resistance which causes the entire upper
feed roller unit to feed smoothly will deviate.
5) Fill the grease (Part No.: 40013640) supplied with the
unit to the entire periphery of the clutch roller.
The clutch roller has two layers, upper and lower. For
the sake of maintenance, only the upper layer should
be fi lled with grease since the grease will gradually
fl ows down to the lower layer.
