Baste (or fuse with iron-on fabric joiner) applique
pieces on the fabric.
Stitch around the applique making sure the
needle falls along the outer edge of the applique.
When sewing corners, lower the needle down into
the fabric.
Raise the presser foot and pivot the fabric to the
right or left.

Use this stitch to join two pieces of fabric to
create an open work appearance, and add design
interest.
Fold under each fabric edge 1/2˝ (1.3 cm) and
press.
Pin the two edges to a piece of paper or tearaway
backing 1/8˝ (0.3 cm) apart.

Sew slowly, guiding the fabric so the needle
catches the folded edge on each side.
Tear away the backing after sewing is nished.
