10 Bearing analysis (BearingScout™)
The device has an integrated bearing analysis using the demodulation method.
u Initially configure the relevant measuring axis (x, y or z) via the SDO (index 0x2053).
u Provide the necessary speed information (index 0x2020) for the machine to be monitored as an
RPDO via the machine control unit.
u Optionally configure the ordinal numbers (BPFO - outer ring, BPFI - inner ring, BSF - rolling
element) of the installed bearing via an SDO (index 0x2054).
w The precision of the measurement result is improved with store-specific monitoring.
If the ordinal numbers are not configured in the device (a value below 0x2054 is 0), a generic
position value is formed by means of demodulation.
w In this case, it is not necessary to enter a machine speed.

The measurement axis for the bearing calculation should be in the direction of the main
vibration. In most cases, this is radial to the shaft axis, directly at the bearing.
The speed information at the bearing position must be taken into account if the frequency
factors are configured.
For a narrow-band bearing analysis, it is recommended to use twice the damage frequency of
the rolling element (BSF), as the damage contact on the inner and outer ring occurs twice per
revolution.
