8.8 Changing objects or resetting the device (Reset)
Changes of the objects in the object directory are applied at once.
The changes will be lost by resetting. To prevent this the objects have to be saved in the internal
permanent memory (flash).
All objects marked with [Save object value]: [yes] are permanently saved in the device’s flash memory.
By writing the signature [save] (0x65766173) to save the objects (OV index 0x1010/0x01), all current
objects in the object directory are transferred to the flash memory.
Resetting objects to factory settings
u Write the signature [load] (0x64616F6C) in the object dictionary (index 0x1011/0x01).
w After a reset the changes are applied.
Depending on the architecture of the CANopen network the objects can also be stored centrally in a
CANopen master. In this case the objects are transferred to the device when the system is started and
the locally stored values are overwritten.
Note
Special features of the node ID (index 0x20F0 and 0x20F1) and bit rate (index 0x20F2 and 0x20F3)
objects:
• Changes to the objects (node ID, bit rate) are only applied after a reset. Use the microcontroller
reset (OV index 0x4000) for this.
• The objects (node ID, bit rate) cannot be transferred to the flash via the object dictionary (index
0x1010/0x01).
• The objects (node ID, bit rate) cannot be reset to factory settings via the object directory (index
0x1011/0x01).
8.9 Device monitoring
8.9.1 Heartbeat
The heartbeat function allows the master (consumer) to monitor the activity of a device in the
CANopen network. The device (producer) sends a heartbeat message containing the status of the
device at regular intervals.
Activate the heartbeat function
u Enter a value greater than [0] in the object [Producer heartbeat interval time] (index 0x1017).
The value indicates the time between two heartbeat signals in milliseconds [ms].
u Disable the heartbeat function with the value [0].
In addition to the producer heartbeat function, the device also supports a consumer heartbeat function
(object directory index 0x1016). The expected time interval for receiving a heartbeat message from the
consumer can be defined here.
8.9.2 MEMS self-test
The device has an integrated MEMS self-test that artificially excites the measuring cell and analyses
the response of the excitation internally. The evaluation of the self-test only works when the sensor is
at rest. Otherwise, stimuli from the machine and the artificial self-test are superimposed.
Activate and read out self-test
u Activate the self-test via the object (index 0x4002) MEMS self-test in subindex 1.
u Read out the self-test result via subindex 2.
