u Adhere to the dimensions shown in the following figure to avoid dead spaces that cannot be
cleaned effectively: L < D for EHEDG and L ≤ 2D for 3-A.

1: Leakage port
2: Nozzle to which the sensor and process adapter are connected with a clamp
3: Main process pipe (alternatively: tank)
L: Nozzle length (distance between sensor and inner wall of pipe/ tank)
D: Inner nozzle diameter
Use according to 3-A:
u Ensure that the installation of the device in the system complies with 3-A guidelines.
u Use only process adapters with 3-A certification and marked with the 3-A symbol (Ò Accessories
at www.ifm.com).
Use according to EHEDG:
In case welded adapters are used, the food contact surface must be smooth (surface roughness
Ra < 0.8 µm) and the welding has to be done according to EHEDG Guideline 9 and 35.
EHEDG conformity applies to the installation of the ifm components sensor and process adapter
including the seal. If the ifm sensor is installed using existing adapters, the customer must
check whether EHEDG-compliant integration is guaranteed.
u Ensure that the installation of the unit in the system complies with EHEDG.
u Only use process adapters permitted according to EHEDG with special seals required by the
EHEDG position paper.
5.4 Rotate display
The display can be rotated for better readability.
As the display housing is very tight, increased force is required.
