AL1921 IO-Link master with EtherNet/IP interface
82
ü Independent mode: the parameter [Process data mode] is set to value [Explicit processdata mode
with IO-Link I/O + Acyclic + Diag].
ü The project is open.
u In the [Controller Organizer]: double-click on the [Controller Tags] node.
w The [Controller Tags] window appears.
w Structure AL1x2x.I > AL1x2x.I:Data contains the IO-Link events of the IO-Link ports.
u If required: link the IO-Link events with the application variables.
u Save the project.
9.4.7 Using acyclic services
9.4.7.1 Using the acyclic command channel
The device features an acyclic command channel. This provides acyclic read and write access to the
parameters of the device and the connected IO-Link devices. The command channel uses special
sections within the cyclic input data and output data.
An acyclic command consists of a request and a response. The command request is transmitted in the
Output Assembly. The command response of the IO-Link master is transmitted in the Input Assembly.
Structure of the acyclic command channel: Acyclic command channel (Ò/107)
To use the acyclic command channel:
Requirements:
ü The device has been integrated into the project.
ü In the Top-Down Mode: [Explicit Owner IO-Acyc-Diag] or [Explicit Owner IO-Acyc] is set as the
active connection.
ü In the Independent Mode: the parameter [Process data mode] is set to [Explicit process data mode
with IO-Link I/O + Acyclic + Diag] or [Explicit process data mode with IO-Link I/O + Acyclic].
u Execute the read and write commands to the acyclic areas.
Principle of the command channels
General procedure of acyclic communication:
1. Write Command Request
u In the request channel: write the required command data (except [Trigger])
u Set [Trigger] = 1.
w Change to [Trigger] = 1 signals a new command.
w In the response channel: bytes are set to 0.
w Processing of the command is started.
2. Check status
u In the response channel: check [Handshake].
w If [Handshake] <>0: command processing finished, continue with step 3.
w If [Handshake] == 0: command is still being processed, repeat step 2.
3. Read Command Response
u In the response channel: read returned user data.
u In the request channel: set [Trigger] = 0.
w Command processing completed.
