Configuring the device
The device can be configured locally with the following options:
• Parameter setting software: Parameter setting software (Ò/19)
• ifm IoT Core REST API: ifm IoT Core REST API (Ò/32)
• ifm IoT Core Visualizer: IoT Core Visualizer (Ò/69)
To operate the device in independent mode:
u Activate the independent mode (parameter [Independent mode]).
u Set the content of the process data (parameter [Process data mode]).
u Set the length of the process data (parameter [Process data length])
u Optional: set the arrangement of the bytes in the IO-Link process data (parameter [Swap]).
u For each port, set the operating mode (pin 4) to [IO-Link] (parameter [Mode Pin4 US]).
u Configure the fail-safe values of the outputs for each port (parameter [Fail-safe IO-Link]).
Adding a device to the project
The device is integrated into the RSLogix5000 project as a generic Ethernet module.
The connection settings must be entered manually. The connection settings define the structure and
scope of the cyclic input data (Input Assembly) and output data (Output Assembly). The size of the
Input Assembly and the Output Assembly depends on the set process data length.
The connection settings must match the set process data length and the ExplicitPDMode.

Requirements:
ü A project with Ethernet/IP controller and Ethernet communication module has been created.
ü The project is open.
u In the [Controller Organizer]: right-click on the node [Ethernet] (Ethernet communication module).
w The context menu appears.
u Click on [New module…].
w A dialogue window appears.
u Select the device type [ETHERNET-MODULE] (Generic Ethernet module).
u Click on [Create].
w The [New module] window appears.
u Enter the name of the device, e.g. [AL1x2x].
