4.13 Bonnet
When the bonnet is open, there is a risk of injury in the engine com-
partment.
Even if the engine was switched off some time ago, it might still be
hot. Danger of burns!
Do not work in the engine compartment while the engine is running.
The bonnet must be kept firmly closed and locked during the journey.
After closing, check whether the lock has engaged. In order to carry
this out, pull on the bonnet.

◼ Pull the lever (Fig. 23) at the bottom of the dashboard, on the left-hand
side of the vehicle.
◼ With both hands, grip the top edge of the bonnet (Fig. 24,1) and reach
into the radiator grill.
◼ Pull bonnet evenly to the front.
◼ Move the bonnet up.
◼ Swivel bonnet downwards.
◼ Press down the centre of the bonnet until the catch lock engages audi-
bly.
◼ Check whether the bonnet is locked correctly. In order to do this, pull the
bonnet forwards with force.
