ink levels.
● To protect the cartridges from drying out, turn o the printer using the Power button.
● If the print quality is not acceptable, see Fix print quality issues.

Check the estimated ink levels
Learn how to check estimated ink levels.
● If you have installed a relled or remanufactured cartridge, or a cartridge that has been used in another
printer, the ink level indicators might not be accurate or available.
● Ink level warnings and indicators provide estimates for planning purposes only. When you receive a low-ink
warning message, consider having a replacement cartridge available to avoid possible printing delays.
● Ink from the cartridges is used in the printing process in a number of dierent ways, including in the
initialization process, which prepares the printer and cartridges for printing, and in printhead servicing, which
keeps print nozzles clear and ink owing smoothly. In addition, some residual ink is left in the cartridge after
it is used, and some ink evaporates. See hp.com/go/inkusage.
You can check the estimated ink levels from the printer control panel or HP software.
● Printer control panel: Check the Ink Level icons on the printer display.
● Open HP Smart, and then check the estimated ink levels on the right of the printer image.
● From the Windows Start menu, open the HP printer software, and then click the Estimated Levels tab.
