2.4 COMPONENT DESCRIPTIONS
This section provides a general overview of the components on the SkyWatch platform. The
components are discussed in detail in later sections of the manual.
OFFICER’S COMPARTMENT
The officer’s compartment is the primary surveillance enclosure and provides space for either one
or two observers. The officer’s compartment also contains controls and indications for raising and
lowering the platform, wind speed indicator, generator operation, area observation lights, land
mobile radio (if equipped), and displays and controls for any installed payloads.
WIDE AREA FLOOD LIGHTS
Four (4) LED flood lights, each mounted on one side of the observation compartment, provide
wide area illumination around the SkyWatch platform for security of the observation crew and the
safety of personnel in close proximity to the platform.
AIR CONDITIONER
The air conditioner provides controlled cool air in warm weather.
HYDRAULIC LIFT ARMS
Four (4) hydraulic lift arms, two (2) on each side of the trailer, function to lift and lower the officer’s
compartment.
FUEL TANK
On the diesel model, the 78-gallon fuel tank is integrated into the deck at the center of the trailer,
providing the platform with a generator run time of approximately 111 hours. On the gasoline
model, a 20-gallon fuel tank located on the trailer deck behind the generator, provides the gasoline
generator with approximately 21 hours of run time.
GENERATOR
The generator provides electrical power to operate the SkyWatch and its optional components
while grid power is unavailable or unreliable. The gasoline model has a 5.5KW gasoline generator
while the diesel models are equipped with a 6KW diesel generator. Both are located on the rear
deck of the trailer behind the electrical compartment.
ELECTRICAL COMPARTMENT
This compartment contains all the operation components of the SkyWatch. These components
include the platform’s control panel for powering the system and for raising and lowering the cab,
circuit breakers, the 9-gallon hydraulic reservoir, the dual hydraulic pump, and all associated
wiring and plumbing.
