Removing the NBP EU from the Mounting Surface
Before you can replace buttons or faceplates on an NBP EU, if the unit is installed in a wall or
furniture, you must remove the unit from the metal mounting bracket and installation surface.
To help with this task, Extron provides a removal tool (shown at right) with the unit.
Use only this provided removal tool.
To remove the NBP EU from the mounting surface:
1. Insert the at tip of the removal tool in the center of the right or
left edge of the NBP EU, between the faceplate and wallplate.
2. Push the tool into the gap until the line on the tool aligns
with the edge of the faceplate.
3. Press (angle) the removal tool outward from the NBP EU,
toward the mounting surface (as shown in the gure at right) to
release the tab that secures the NBP EU within the wallplate.
4. Repeat steps 1 through 3 on the opposite side of the NBP EU.
The unit should tilt out from the wallplate.
NOTE: The wallplate is removed at the same time you remove
the NBP EU from the bracket and mounting surface.
Best Practices for Cleaning Your Extron Products
It may be necessary to clean your Extron Network Button Panels.
Frequently touched elements, such as buttons, require regular
cleaning to ensure their surfaces remain sanitary. Plastic surfaces
and cosmetic nishes can be damaged by long term exposure to
chemicals. Therefore, Extron recommends the following guidelines
when cleaning the NBPs.
The NBPs can be safely cleaned with:
1. 70% concentration or higher isopropyl alcohol
2. Disinfectant cleaners that:
• Are non-ammonium based (for example, contains no
ammonium chloride)
• Contain 2% or less sodium hypochlorite (for example, 2% bleach, 98% water)
It is important to follow these general guidelines when cleaning:
1. If possible, unplug the device.
2. Spray the cleaner on a lint-free cloth until the cloth is damp.
3. Do not spray the cleaner directly onto the product.
4. Gently clean the product surface using the cloth.
