MLCPlus84EU and MLCPlus84MK Site Preparation
The MLCPlus84EU fits a standard two-gang European wall (junction) box or external
wall box. The MLCPlus84MK fits a standard two-gang MK-type junction box or external
wall box. These models may not fit in all in-wall junction boxes, so check the fit prior to
installation. The installer must provide the box. Read any installation instructions and
regulatory guidelines that come with the wall box before installation. To prepare the site:
1. For installation into a wall or furniture: Measure, mark, and carefully cut a hole in
the mounting surface.
• If using a wall box, use the box as the reference for what size hole to cut.
• If mounting directly to the mounting surface, use the following hole sizes:
• MLCPlus 84EU: 114.3 mm W x 50.8 mm H (4.50 inches W x 2.00 inches H).
• MLCPlus 84MK: 113.0 mm W x 55.9 mm H (4.45 inches W x 2.20 inches H).
For all types of installations (EU model only): Run cables to the junction box and
secure the cables with a clamp.
2. Secure the box to the raceway, stud, wall, or furniture.
3. For wall mount installations, attach the mounting bracket (metal) to the junction box
or external wall box.
For raceway installations, install the plastic spacer
(if needed for the EU model), then attach the
mounting bracket to the junction box or external wall
box and raceway.
NOTE: If using a cable raceway, you may need
to insert a plastic spacer between the raceway
and the mounting bracket to close a gap and
make the installation flush and secure. See the
diagram in figure 7 at right.
The spacer looks like the mounting bracket,
but has “Optional Spacer” and “Place behind
bracket” stamped into its surface. The spacer
also has a slightly larger center opening than
the mounting bracket does.
