To mount an MLC 55 controller to a junction box:
1. Mount the appropriate one-gang (MLC 55 RS and MLC 55 RS MK) or two-gang
(MLC 55 RS VC, MLC 55 RS EU, and MLC RS EU V) junction box in the wall or
furniture, following the directions provided with the box.
2. Run the cables through the junction box.
3. Remove the faceplate from the MLC if it is attached (see Removing and Replacing
the Faceplate on page 16).
4. Remove power from all devices, including the MLC, at the source, then connect all
cables to the MLC. Leave the power supply cable connected to the MLC.
5. Place the MLC, with the spacer behind it if applicable, onto the junction box frame.
NOTES:
• US models: The provided spacer is required for mounting the MLC 55 RS
and MLC 55 RS VC to every mounting device except a mud-ring (see
Mounting an MLC 55 RS or MLC 55 RS VC to a Mud Ring on the
next page). Place the spacer against the back of the metal mounting plate,
aligning the mounting holes or slots at the top and bottom of the spacer with
those of the MLC metal plate.
• MLC 55 RS EU and MLC 55 RS EU V: Most European junction boxes are
provided with their mounting screws inserted partway. Align the round portion
of the slots in the MLC mounting plate with the heads of the four mounting
screws on the box. Place the unit face-up onto the junction box with the
heads of the four mounting screws on the box passing through the round
holes in the MLC mounting plate. Slide the unit to the right until the narrow
ends of the slots touch the screws (see figure 22,

).
• A spacer is provided with the MLC 55 RS EU and MLC 55 RS EU V, but it
is not required unless you are mounting the MLC in a cable raceway (see
Mounting the MLC 55 RS EU or the MLC 55 RS EU V in a Raceway on
page 25).
