12 Putting into operation
This chapter explains the individual steps for commissioning the appliance.
First wash
To remove the factory dirt and grease residues from the drum and to avoid soiling the
textiles, start a wash cycle with a little detergent, without textiles.
Washing symbols
The textile care symbols commonly used in Europe today were introduced by the
International Organisation for Textile Care Marks GINETEXH (Groupement International
d'Etiquetage pour l'Entretien des Textiles) based in Paris in 1975. They are laid down in
an ISO standard (ISO 3758) from 1991 and the Euro standard EN 23758 from 1994. This
standard is binding for all European countries (EU) and also applies in Switzerland and
Israel.
WASH
Machine wash. The digit indicates the highest possible washing
temperature.
Machine wash. The bar under the container means gentle spin.
Machine wash. Interrupted bar
sometimes also double bars): Particularly gentle washing - only delicate
cycle or wool cycle

Hand wash.

Do not wring, this symbol is not common in Europe, but is mainly used in
Japan.
