before fi rst use
Getting started
Clean the appliance with a damp cloth, then dry it. Do not use any detergent
that may cause bluish discolouration on glass surfaces.
Induction principle
An induction coil is located under each cooking zone. When it is switched on,
it produces a variable electromagnetic fi eld which, in turn, produces induced
currents in the ferromagnetic bottom of the pan. This causes the pan placed on
the cooking zone to heat up.
Of course, it must be a suitable type of pan:
• Any ferromagnetic metal pan is compatible (check
with a small magnet, if necessary: if it sticks, it means
that your pans are compatible) e.g. cast iron casserole
dishes, cast iron frying pans, enamelled metal pots,
stainless steel pots with ferromagnetic bottoms, etc.
• Incompatible pans will include pans made of copper,
stainless steel, aluminium, glass, wood, ceramics, stoneware, terracotta,
non-ferromagnetic stainless steel, etc.
The induction cooking zone automatically takes into account the size of the
pan used. If the pan is too small in diameter, the cooking zone will not activate.
Choose the cooking zone best suited to the diameter of the pan used.
We strongly advise against using removable accessories between the induction
hob and the pan. Danger of burns and damage to the hob!
If the container is not suitable for the cooking zone, the "
U
" symbol will appear
in the display.
basic use
Touch-sensitive keys
Your machine is equipped with touch-sensitive keys to control the various
functions. A touch of the key activates its operation. This activation is confi rmed
by an indicator lamp, a display and/or an audible signal.
Container detection (u on the display)
The induction hob does not work:
• When there is no container on the cooking zone or when the container is unsuitable
(if the diameter of the container is too small or if the container is not centred on the
zone). Then you will not be able to increase the power. The "u " symbol appears on
the display. It disappears when you put a pan suitable for an induction hob on it.
• The display screen will automatically turn off after 2 minutes if no suitable pan is
placed on the cooking zone.
• Operation is also interrupted when you remove the pan during cooking. The " u
" symbol appears. It disappears when the pan is put back on the cooking zone.
Cooking will resume at the previously selected power level.
Pan detection provides additional safety. However, after use, do not
rely on the pan sensor to switch off the hob. Instead, switch it off using
the controls for maximum safety.
