GB | Guarantee for Connected Appliances
Company EMOS spol. s r. o. (hereinafter referred to as EMOS) guarantees to the original
consumer that it shall either replace, repair, procure new or pay out compensation,
chosen at the company’s own discretion, for any device that was properly connected via
EMOS overvoltage protection to properly connected 230 V~ mains with protective contact
and telephone (Internet) or coaxial line, yet has been damaged by impulses caused by
lightning, other energy transfers, or dynamic current with maximum values conforming to
the parameters of the overvoltage protection (these hereinafter referred to collectively as
“event”) if the overvoltage protection did not protect the connected electrical device and
the overvoltage protection shows clear signs of damage caused by the event. Maximum
compensation totals € 2 000.
This guarantee does not apply to damage resulting from vis major, such as oods, erosion
or earthquake, damage caused by a lasting outage on 230 V~ mains or by overvoltage
caused by in-operation changes in the power grid or damage caused by vandalism, theft,
wear due to standard use, fatigue, ageing, abnormal treatment or use or abuse, damage
caused by unauthorised modication or adjustment of system devices or damage to
devices that were not directly connected to the overvoltage protection during the event
except for damage caused by lightning. This guarantee is valid for 2 years since production
date. The protection indicator will turn o once this period has expired. In that event, it
is necessary to stop using the overvoltage protection for protection against overvoltage.
The guarantee does not apply cases where the maximum parameters of the overvoltage
protection were been exceeded.
This guarantee is limited to losses not covered by the warranty provided by the manufactur-
er of the connected device or by the consumer’s or leasing company’s contents insurance.
The consumer agrees that they will rst request coverage within these warranties and
insurance contracts and will not demand duplicate coverage from EMOS. The consumer
undertakes to provide EMOS information about insurance on request; after handling the
claim, EMOS reserves the right to be substituted in the matter of any existing guarantees
from the manufacturer of the connected device or any existing insurance conditions that
the consumer ling the claim may have.
Warning:
This guarantee is not an EMOS product warranty. Proof of purchase serves as the document
for claiming damages. The guarantee is an above-standard service and does not have a
set processing deadline to determine the validity or invalidity of a claim.
Guarantee conditions:
• This guarantee is limited to overvoltage protections, as stated on packaging and in
the enclosed guarantee for connected appliances.
• In the event of repair or interference with the internal wiring of the overvoltage protec-
tion by a person not authorised by EMOS, any resulting issues will not be recognised
and compensated within this guarantee.
• EMOS overvoltage protection must be connected to a properly grounded socket. All
EMOS overvoltage protections must be connected directly to the source of power
and must not be in serial connection with other cabling, UPS, other overvoltage
protections and extension leads. If any of these installations are found, the EMOS
guarantee is voided.
• All cabling leading into the device, including telephone and coaxial lines, must pass
through suitable EMOS overvoltage protection. If you want to request compensation
for damage resulting from transient events in a telephone line, the device must be
properly connected to EMOS overvoltage protection that protects the telephone line
and your device for telephone service must be equipped with a properly installed
and functional primary protection on the input. (Such devices are commonly added
during the installation of the telephone line.) If you do not connect the protection of
the telephone line properly, the guarantee will not apply to the connected appliance.
• If you want to request compensation for damage resulting from transient events in a
coaxial line, the device must be properly connected to EMOS overvoltage protection
that protects the coaxial line. If the connection of the protection for the coaxial cable
is incorrect, the guarantee will not apply to the connected appliance.
• At its own discretion, EMOS will determine whether the consumer should send the
damaged appliance and overvoltage protection to EMOS.
• If such delivery is requested by EMOS, the consumer must send the damaged appliance
and overvoltage protection at their own expense in tightly closed packaging (to prevent
further damage) to the stated address along with a copy of the proof of purchase and
a comprehensive written description of the issue, including the name of the consumer,
address and telephone number where the consumer can be contacted during the day.
• EMOS also reserves the right to access and investigate directly at the site where the
damage occurred.
• If EMOS determines that the guarantee does apply to the connected appliance and
that the appliance was damaged because of the overvoltage protection covered by
the guarantee, EMOS shall issue a licence to repair the connected device for up to the
maximum total cost dened for the overvoltage protection in question; provide the
consumer an equivalent replacement device; or pay the consumer damages equal to
the current real price of the damaged connected device. Maximum compensation
totals € 2 000. Depending on the verdict, EMOS shall return the appliance to the
consumer at its own expense.
How to Proceed
• Make sure you have the original proof of purchase for the overvoltage protection.
