Using your freezer - ENGLISH 17
CAUTION!
• Always follow food storage times and use by dates suggested by manufacturers.
• Store pre-packed frozen food in accordance with the frozen food manufacturer's instructions.
• Opening the door for long periods can cause a significant increase of the temperature in the freezer.
• Do not place carbonated or fizzy drinks in the freezer as it creates pressure in the container, which may
cause it to explode and damage the product.
• Make sure that bottles are not left in the freezer for longer than needed. Freezing may cause the bottles
to break.
• Do not freeze frozen food again once it has thawed out.
CAUTION!
Do not close the door while any drawers are open. It may damage the drawers and the door.
NOTE!
To avoid wasting energy:
• Do not store warm food or evaporating liquid in the freezer. Placing hot food directly into the freezer
causes the internal temperature to rise resulting in the compressor having to work harder and therefore
consume more energy.
• Do not keep the door open for longer periods.
• Do not line the inside of the drawer or shelves with aluminium foil, wax paper, or paper towels. This
could interfere with air circulation and make the freezer less efficient.
Use the following tips and recommendations when storing food in the freezer.
• Prepare food in small portions to enable it to be rapidly and completely frozen and in turn make it possible to thaw
only the quantity required. Once defrosted, food will deteriorate rapidly and should not be frozen again.
• Put the food in the freezer as soon as possible after purchase; foods that freeze too slowly may lose quality or spoil.
• Wrap up the food in aluminium foil or polyethylene food wraps which are airtight.
• Store raw meat and fish in suitable containers, so that it is not in contact with or drip onto other food.
• Label and date each frozen package in order to keep track of the storage time and to quick find the food and reduce
door openings.
• Do not allow unfrozen food to touch the already frozen food to avoid warming it.
• Ensure that frozen food has been stored correctly by the food retailer.
• Large items can be stored by removing a drawer.
• If possible, try to place food in the freezer to allow cold air to circulate around it.
• Place fresh food in the top drawer to freeze it quickly. This avoids the formation of large ice crystals that could affect
the quality of the food once it has defrosted. Move the already frozen food to create space in the top drawer for fresh
food.
NOTE!
This product is most energy efficient with the shelf and drawers in their original position.
