12. TROUBLESHOOTING
Note: Remove the plug from the socket before carrying out adjustment, servicing or maintenance.
Problem Possible Cause Remedy
Excessive bit wobble. Loose chuck.
Chuck worn.
Tighten chuck.
Replace chuck.
Morticer will not start. Power supply.
Faulty switch.
Faulty motor.
Check fuse in plug.
Replace switch-return to
repair agent.
Replace motor-return to
repair agent.
Chisel bit binds in workpiece. Excessive pressure on feed
handle.
Chisel bit is loose.
Apply less pressure.
Tighten chuck with key.
Chisel bit burns or smokes. Chips are not clearing from
the chisel.
Blunt chisel and bit.
Feed pressure too light.
Clean chisel and bit or
replace.
Sharpen chisel and bit.
Apply more pressure.
