Histogram
The histogram is a great tool that helps improve the overall exposure of an image.
Y (Luminosity)
The Y or luminosity histogram is a graph that describes the human-eye perceived
brightness distribution within an image.
To produce the luminosity histogram, the image is first broken down into individual
pixels. Each pixel's color is then converted into a luminosity value based on a weighted
average of its red, green, and blue components. The human eye is more sensitive to
green light, so the green, red, and blue channels contribute 59%, 30%, and 11% to the
perceived luminosity, respectively. Finally, the luminosity histogram is generated by
counting the number of pixels at each brightness level, as illustrated in the diagram
below.
