3 Product Overview
3.1 Intended Use
The VACON
®
NXP IP00 Drive Modules are intended for installation in a cabinet, switchgear, or any other enclosure.
The drive is an electronic motor controller intended for:
Regulation of motor speed in response to system feedback or to remote commands from external controllers. A power drive
system consists of the AC drive, the motor, and equipment driven by the motor.
System and motor status surveillance.
The drive can also be used for motor overload protection.
VACON
®
NXP IP00 Drive Modules are available as both 6-pulse (standard) and 12-pulse (optional) supply versions. VACON
®
NXP IP00
Drive Modules have a different number of units depending on the enclosure size:
FR8, FR9, FR10, and FR11: 1 power unit
FR12: 2 power units
FR13 and FR14:
2–4 non-regenerative front-end (NFE) units
1 (FR13) or 2 (FR14) inverter units
AC chokes mounted in parallel are also included in the delivery of FR10–FR14. FR8 and FR9 have internal AC chokes.
VACON
®
NXP AC Drive can be used as programmable logic controller (PLC) in many applications due to extensive I/O and fieldbus
options and easy programmability. Custom application development can be done with VACON
®
Programming tool and standard
PLC programming languages defined in the IEC 61131/3.
Depending on the configuration, the drive can be used in standalone applications or form part of a larger appliance or installation.
The drive is allowed for use in residential, industrial, and commercial environments in accordance with local laws and standards.
N O T I C E
In a residential environment, this product can cause radio interference, in which case supplementary mitigation measures can be
required.
Foreseeable misuse
Do not use the drive in applications which are non-compliant with specified operating conditions and environments. Ensure com-
pliance with the conditions specified in
12.10 VACON® NXP IP00 Drive Modules Technical Data.
