Mounting
Mount the Horizon® 2 device to an electrical box.
l
To install the HZ2-DIMEX, HZ2-DIMLVEX, HZ2-DIMUEX, HZ2-KPEX, HZ2-SWEX, and HZ2-AUX,
refer to Horizon 2 Device Mounting on page 71.
l
To install the HZ2-KPCN, refer to HZ2-KPCN Mounting on page 78 or HZ2-KPCN Mounting in an
EU Backbox on page 85.
l
To install the HZ2A-KEY, refer to Mounting on page 71.
l
To install the metal backplate with the device in place, refer to Post-Installation Metal Backplate
Assembly on page 91.
TIP: Consider the following when using the metal backplate:
l
The metal backplate is required for all installations where the electrical box is flush with or
recessed from the wall surface. This is common for installation into New Work boxes.
l
The metal backplate is not recommended for electrical boxes that protrude beyond the wall
surface.
l
If the room contains both New Work and Old Work boxes, it may be necessary to use the
metal backplate for all devices to maintain a consistent appearance.
l
The two-piece metal backplate can be installed after the Horizon®2 devices are installed. This
may occur if the faceplate is not onsite at the time of the keypad installation. For details,
refer to Post-Installation Metal Backplate Assembly on page 91.
l
Two styles of metal backplates are offered. The one-piece metal backplate is supplied along
with the faceplate for the HZ2-KPCN and the two-piece metal backplates are supplied with
the 1-, 2-, 3-, and 4-gang HZ2-FP-G series faceplates.
Horizon 2 Device Mounting
To install the Horizon®2 device:
NOTE: To wire the device, refer to Wiring on page 95.
1. Turn power off at the circuit breaker.
WARNING: If the device is used with an HZ2-AUX or HZ2-KPEX, power may need to be turned
off at multiple breakers.
