4-Thread Safety Stitch
The 4-thread safety stitch is perfect for all types of woven fabrics ranging from fine to heavyweight.
This stitch is designed to seam and overlock the fabric edge in one step, thus creating a garment
industry standard safety stitch. As well as woven fabrics, the 4-thread safety stitch is ideal for
stabilizing knits, sweater knits and long seams on woven fabrics.
The 4-thread safety stitch combines a 2-thread overlock stitch using the subsidiary looper with
a 2-thread chain stitch. Depending on the chain/cover needle position there are three different
seam width options that are ideal for a wide range of fabric types and weights.
For 4-thread Safety Stitch:
1. Use standard cutting blade cover.
2. Engage the subsidiary looper in the upper looper (see pg. 14).
3. Thread the lower and chain loopers.
4. Thread one chain needle and the O-1 overlock needle (see illustration).
5. Engage the upper blade to cut the fabric. Set stitch width dial at 7.5.
6. Select "A" on the Stitch Selector.
