Blanket Stitch - Decorative Stitch
Set the machine up for 2-thread flatlock wide. Notice the needle
threading path is different for this technique.
1. Insert a size 90 topstitch needle in the left (O-1) overlock needle
position.
2. Engage the threading lever in the threading position.
3. Guide the subsidiary looper into place on the upper looper (Re
-
fer to the illustrations below for steps 3 - 6).
4. Place overlock thread in the lower looper.
5. Place a decorative thread (12wt. cotton or rayon) that will be used
in the needle on the "OVERLOCK NEEDLE O-1" spool pin and
thread the needle thread through the Upper Looper thread path.
6. Engage the threading lever to the serging position, pull the
thread out of the upper looper tube and continue to thread the
needle as illustrated.
7. Place water-soluble stabilizer on top of the fabric, along the fabric
edge.
8. Stitch along the edge of the fabric (fig.A).
9. When finished stitching, pull (gently) the water-soluble stabilizer
to the right of the fabric (fig.B). This will pull the stitching to the
fabric edge and will look like a blanket stitch (fig.C).
