Preparation
To prepare for the firmware upgrade, do the following:
1. Use an RS-232 cable to connect a COM port on your computer to the RS-
232 Serial Port of your VS172 / VS174.
Note: The VS174 is pictured above. The VS172 rear panel is the same as
the VS174, except that it has 2 A/V outputs s instead of 4.
2. Unplug the VS172 / VS174’s power adapter.
3. Press and hold the Power/Stand by Button located on the VS172 / VS174’s
front panel, and plug the power adapter into the VS172 / VS174 to power
on the unit.
4. If successful, both of the Power and Activity LEDs will start flashing and
you can start the upgrade process as explained on the next page.
