Multi-Level Installation
To control even more computers, up to 8 additional switches can be cascaded
from the first CL6708MW (see Supported KVM Switches, page 65). As many as
64 computers can be controlled from a single console in a complete cascade
installation. Tables showing the relation between the number of computers and
the number of switches needed to control them are provided on page 65 in the
Appendix.
To set up a multi-level installation, do the following:
1. Ground the master CL6708MW and make sure that power has been turned
of
f to all the computers you will be connecting up.
2. Using a KVM cable, connect any available KVM Port on the first level
switch to the Console port on the second level unit*.
3. Use custom DVI KVM cable sets (described in the Cables section, page 4)
to connect any available KVM port on the either of the two switches to the
keyboard, video and mouse ports of the computers you are installing.
4. Repeat the steps above to cascade additional switches to the installation.
5. The Power On sequence requires that all Second Stage units be powered
on first. After the second stage units are on, power on the First Stage unit.
After the Second and First stage units have been powered on, the
computers can be powered on.
* The CL6708MW can only be installed as the first switch in a two level
installation as its LCD, keyboard and mouse are used as the console and all
second level switches require an external console port to be cascaded.
