18.6 UDLD
UDLD （Unidirectional Link Detection）: it is a Cisco private layer-2 protocol, which
is used to monitor the physical configuration of Ethernet link connected by optical fiber
or twisted pair. When one-way link appears (it can only transmit to one direction, for
example, I can send data to you, you can also receive it, but I can’t receive the data you
sent to me), UDLD can detect this situation, close the corresponding interface and send
it Warning message. One-way links may cause many problems, especially spanning trees,
which may cause loopback. Note: UDLD needs to be supported by devices at both ends
of the link to run normally.
