3.3.2 Finite lighting output period
Extending the idea from the previous section, setting the output count generates
lighting for a specific period of time. For example, if the PWM period is 10 ms, gener-
ating a 100 ms duration of lighting requires setting the output count to 10, so that 10
ms × 10 = 100 ms. The table below provides a matrix for achieving different lighting
output durations for given camera frame rates and expected intensity.
3.3.3 Strobe
In strobe applications, the lighting flashes for a short period at maximum intensity. It
uses a single PWM period output to achieve maximum lighting intensity in a short
time. In this application, the camera frame rate isn’t one of the constraints. The low
period can be any value or kept as short as possible, because the only factor affect-
ing the application is the high period. The table below lists some examples of differ-
ent settings and their results.
* Low could be set to any figure, as long as it wouldn’t affect the cycle time.
